At Creator 3D, we're always pushing the boundaries of what's possible with 3D scanning and reverse engineering. Here's a look at what we're currently working on.

1979 VW Bus — Custom Kick Panel & Under-dash

This is one of our most exciting builds to date. We're working with a classic 1979 Volkswagen Bus to custom scan and reverse engineer the kick panel and underdash area — bringing a piece of automotive history into the modern age of precision fabrication.

What We're Doing

• 3D Scanning: Using high-resolution scanning technology to capture every curve and contour of the original interior panels (in progress).
• Reverse Engineering: Converting the scan data into precise CAD models that can be used for reproduction or custom modification.
• Custom Fabrication: Designing kick panels and under-dash components that fit perfectly while allowing for a modern look.

Why This Project Matters

Finding original interior parts for a 1979 VW Bus is nearly impossible, and in this case, they never existed. Our process allows owners of classic vehicles to preserve, restore, or upgrade their interiors without compromising authenticity. Whether you're restoring a vintage van or building a custom camper, this technology opens up a world of possibilities.

First 3D Scan — 1979 VW Bus Underdash & Kick Panel Project

This marks the beginning of an exciting restoration and reverse engineering journey. Our first 3D scan focused on capturing the underdash area of a classic 1979 Volkswagen Bus — a critical first step in recreating parts that are nearly impossible to find today.

The perimeter of the underdash area was the most important data to collect during this initial scan. This boundary defines the precise mounting points for the kick panel we are reverse engineering, ensuring that any reproduced or custom-fabricated parts will fit with factory-level accuracy. Every curve, edge, and contour was carefully captured to serve as the foundation for the CAD modeling phase ahead.

This is an ongoing project, and we'll be sharing updates as we move from scan data to finished product. Stay tuned as we bring this piece of VW history back to life — one precise measurement at a time.
